¶Now it happened in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

¶Now it happened in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
22Kgs 18:22בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁ שָׁנָה֙ הָיָ֣ה בְמָלְכ֔וֹ וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָתֵ֙שַׁע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ אֲבִ֖י בַּת־זְכַרְיָֽה׃2Kgs 18:2
He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
4Kgs 18:24Kgs 18:2υἱὸς εἴκοσι καὶ πέντε ἐτῶν ἦν ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ εἴκοσι καὶ ἐννέα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ Αβου θυγάτηρ Ζαχαριου2Kgs 18:2

He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that David his father had done.
4Kgs 18:34Kgs 18:3καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν Δαυιδ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ2Kgs 18:3

42Kgs 18:44ה֣וּא ׀ הֵסִ֣יר אֶת־הַבָּמ֗וֹת וְשִׁבַּר֙ אֶת־הַמַּצֵּבֹ֔ת וְכָרַ֖ת אֶת־הָֽאֲשֵׁרָ֑ה וְכִתַּת֩ נְחַ֨שׁ הַנְּחֹ֜שֶׁת אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֣ה מֹשֶׁ֗ה כִּ֣י עַד־הַיָּמִ֤ים הָהֵ֙מָּה֙ הָי֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מְקַטְּרִ֣ים ל֔וֹ וַיִּקְרָא־ל֖וֹ נְחֻשְׁתָּֽן׃2Kgs 18:4
He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for to those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.
4Kgs 18:44Kgs 18:4αὐτὸς ἐξῆρεν τὰ ὑψηλὰ καὶ συνέτριψεν πάσας τὰς στήλας καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσεν τὰ ἄλση καὶ τὸν ὄφιν τὸν χαλκοῦν ὃν ἐποίησεν Μωυσῆς ὅτι ἕως τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐκείνων ἦσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ θυμιῶντες αὐτῷ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Νεεσθαν2Kgs 18:4

Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, “I have offended; return from me. That which you put on me, I will bear.” The king of Assyria appointed to Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of Yahweh, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
4Kgs 18:164Kgs 18:16ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ συνέκοψεν Εζεκιας τὰς θύρας ναοῦ κυρίου καὶ τὰ ἐστηριγμένα ἃ ἐχρύσωσεν Εζεκιας βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰ βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων2Kgs 18:16

The king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army to Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller’s field.
4Kgs 18:174Kgs 18:17καὶ ἀπέστειλεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων τὸν Θαρθαν καὶ τὸν Ραφις καὶ τὸν Ραψακην ἐκ Λαχις πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Εζεκιαν ἐν δυνάμει βαρείᾳ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἀνέβησαν καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἔστησαν ἐν τῷ ὑδραγωγῷ τῆς κολυμβήθρας τῆς ἄνω ἥ ἐστιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τοῦ ἀγροῦ τοῦ γναφέως2Kgs 18:17

You say (but they are but vain words), ‘There is counsel and strength for war.’ Now on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?

You say (but they are but vain words), ‘There is counsel and strength for war.’ Now on whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
212Kgs 18:2121עַתָּ֡ה הִנֵּ֣ה בָטַ֣חְתָּ לְּךָ֡ עַל־מִשְׁעֶנֶת֩ הַקָּנֶ֨ה הָרָצ֤וּץ הַזֶּה֙ עַל־מִצְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִסָּמֵ֥ךְ אִישׁ֙ עָלָ֔יו וּבָ֥א בְכַפּ֖וֹ וּנְקָבָ֑הּ כֵּ֚ן פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֔יִם לְכָֽל־הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים עָלָֽיו׃2Kgs 18:21
Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand, and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.

Now therefore, please give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
4Kgs 18:234Kgs 18:23καὶ νῦν μίχθητε δὴ τῷ κυρίῳ μου βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων καὶ δώσω σοι δισχιλίους ἵππους εἰ δυνήσῃ δοῦναι σεαυτῷ ἐπιβάτας ἐπ’ αὐτούς2Kgs 18:23

¶Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it. Don’t speak with us in the Jews’ language, in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”
4Kgs 18:264Kgs 18:26καὶ εἶπεν Ελιακιμ υἱὸς Χελκιου καὶ Σομνας καὶ Ιωας πρὸς Ραψακην λάλησον δὴ πρὸς τοὺς παῖδάς σου Συριστί ὅτι ἀκούομεν ἡμεῖς καὶ οὐ λαλήσεις μεθ’ ἡμῶν Ιουδαϊστί καὶ ἵνα τί λαλεῖς ἐν τοῖς ὠσὶν τοῦ λαοῦ τοῦ ἐπὶ τοῦ τείχους2Kgs 18:26

Thus says the king, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand.
