¶It happened after these things, that someone said to Joseph, “Behold, your father is sick.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

¶It happened after these things, that someone said to Joseph, “Behold, your father is sick.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
2Gn 48:22ἀπηγγέλη δὲ τῷ Ιακωβ λέγοντες ἰδοὺ ὁ υἱός σου Ιωσηφ ἔρχεται πρὸς σέ καὶ ἐνισχύσας Ισραηλ ἐκάθισεν ἐπὶ τὴν κλίνηνGn 48:2
Someone told Jacob, and said, “Behold, your son Joseph comes to you,” and Israel strengthened himself, and sat on the bed.

Someone told Jacob, and said, “Behold, your son Joseph comes to you,” and Israel strengthened himself, and sat on the bed.

Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
4Gn 48:44καὶ εἶπέν μοι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ αὐξανῶ σε καὶ πληθυνῶ σε καὶ ποιήσω σε εἰς συναγωγὰς ἐθνῶν καὶ δώσω σοι τὴν γῆν ταύτην καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς κατάσχεσιν αἰώνιονGn 48:4
and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.’

and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.’
5Gn 48:55νῦν οὖν οἱ δύο υἱοί σου οἱ γενόμενοί σοι ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ πρὸ τοῦ με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἐμοί εἰσιν Εφραιμ καὶ Μανασση ὡς Ρουβην καὶ Συμεων ἔσονταί μοιGn 48:5
Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, will be mine.

Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, will be mine.
6Gn 48:66τὰ δὲ ἔκγονα ἃ ἐὰν γεννήσῃς μετὰ ταῦτα σοὶ ἔσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν κληθήσονται ἐν τοῖς ἐκείνων κλήροιςGn 48:6
Your issue, who you become the father of after them, will be yours. They will be called after the name of their brothers in their inheritance.
Gn 48:6Gn 48:6וּמוֹלַדְתְּךָ֛ אֲשֶׁר־הוֹלַ֥דְתָּ אַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם לְךָ֣ יִהְי֑וּ עַ֣ל שֵׁ֧ם אֲחֵיהֶ֛ם יִקָּרְא֖וּ בְּנַחֲלָתָֽם׃Gn 48:6

7Gn 48:77ἐγὼ δὲ ἡνίκα ἠρχόμην ἐκ Μεσοποταμίας τῆς Συρίας ἀπέθανεν Ραχηλ ἡ μήτηρ σου ἐν γῇ Χανααν ἐγγίζοντός μου κατὰ τὸν ἱππόδρομον χαβραθα τῆς γῆς τοῦ ἐλθεῖν Εφραθα καὶ κατώρυξα αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τοῦ ἱπποδρόμου αὕτη ἐστὶν ΒαιθλεεμGn 48:7
As for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when there was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there in the way to Ephrath (the same is Bethlehem).”

¶Israel saw Joseph’s sons, and said, “Who are these?”
9Gn 48:99εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ υἱοί μού εἰσιν οὓς ἔδωκέν μοι ὁ θεὸς ἐνταῦθα καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ προσάγαγέ μοι αὐτούς ἵνα εὐλογήσω αὐτούςGn 48:9
¶Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me here.”
¶He said, “Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.”

¶Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me here.”
¶He said, “Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.”
10Gn 48:1010οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ Ισραηλ ἐβαρυώπησαν ἀπὸ τοῦ γήρους καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο βλέπειν καὶ ἤγγισεν αὐτοὺς πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ἐφίλησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ περιέλαβεν αὐτούςGn 48:10
Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he couldn’t see. He brought them near to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
Gn 48:10Gn 48:10וְעֵינֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כָּבְד֣וּ מִזֹּ֔קֶן לֹ֥א יוּכַ֖ל לִרְא֑וֹת וַיַּגֵּ֤שׁ אֹתָם֙ אֵלָ֔יו וַיִּשַּׁ֥ק לָהֶ֖ם וַיְחַבֵּ֥ק לָהֶֽם׃Gn 48:10

Israel said to Joseph, “I didn’t think I would see your face, and behold, God has let me see your seed also.”
Gn 48:11Gn 48:11וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֔ף רְאֹ֥ה פָנֶ֖יךָ לֹ֣א פִלָּ֑לְתִּי וְהִנֵּ֨ה הֶרְאָ֥ה אֹתִ֛י אֱלֹהִ֖ים גַּ֥ם אֶת־זַרְעֶֽךָ׃Gn 48:11
Israel said to Joseph, “I didn’t think I would see your face, and behold, God has let me see your seed also.”
12Gn 48:1212καὶ ἐξήγαγεν Ιωσηφ αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τῶν γονάτων αὐτοῦ καὶ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆςGn 48:12
Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
Gn 48:12Gn 48:12וַיּוֹצֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֛ף אֹתָ֖ם מֵעִ֣ם בִּרְכָּ֑יו וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ לְאַפָּ֖יו אָֽרְצָה׃Gn 48:12
Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
13Gn 48:1313λαβὼν δὲ Ιωσηφ τοὺς δύο υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ τόν τε Εφραιμ ἐν τῇ δεξιᾷ ἐξ ἀριστερῶν δὲ Ισραηλ τὸν δὲ Μανασση ἐν τῇ ἀριστερᾷ ἐκ δεξιῶν δὲ Ισραηλ ἤγγισεν αὐτοὺς αὐτῷGn 48:13
Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near to him.
Gn 48:13Gn 48:13וַיִּקַּ֣ח יוֹסֵף֮ אֶת־שְׁנֵיהֶם֒ אֶת־אֶפְרַ֤יִם בִּֽימִינוֹ֙ מִשְּׂמֹ֣אל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאֶת־מְנַשֶּׁ֥ה בִשְׂמֹאל֖וֹ מִימִ֣ין יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּגֵּ֖שׁ אֵלָֽיו׃Gn 48:13
Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near to him.
14Gn 48:1414ἐκτείνας δὲ Ισραηλ τὴν χεῖρα τὴν δεξιὰν ἐπέβαλεν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Εφραιμ οὗτος δὲ ἦν ὁ νεώτερος καὶ τὴν ἀριστερὰν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Μανασση ἐναλλὰξ τὰς χεῖραςGn 48:14
Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.

15Gn 48:1515καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός ᾧ εὐηρέστησαν οἱ πατέρες μου ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ ὁ θεὸς ὁ τρέφων με ἐκ νεότητος ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτηςGn 48:15
He blessed Joseph, and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day,
Gn 48:15Gn 48:15וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ אֶת־יוֹסֵ֖ף וַיֹּאמַ֑ר הָֽאֱלֹהִ֡ים אֲשֶׁר֩ הִתְהַלְּכ֨וּ אֲבֹתַ֤י לְפָנָיו֙ אַבְרָהָ֣ם וְיִצְחָ֔ק הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ הָרֹעֶ֣ה אֹתִ֔י מֵעוֹדִ֖י עַד־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃Gn 48:15
He blessed Joseph, and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day,
16Gn 48:1616ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ ῥυόμενός με ἐκ πάντων τῶν κακῶν εὐλογήσαι τὰ παιδία ταῦτα καὶ ἐπικληθήσεται ἐν αὐτοῖς τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῶν πατέρων μου Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ καὶ πληθυνθείησαν εἰς πλῆθος πολὺ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆςGn 48:16
the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads, and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. Let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”
Gn 48:16Gn 48:16הַמַּלְאָךְ֩ הַגֹּאֵ֨ל אֹתִ֜י מִכָּל־רָ֗ע יְבָרֵךְ֮ אֶת־הַנְּעָרִים֒ וְיִקָּרֵ֤א בָהֶם֙ שְׁמִ֔י וְשֵׁ֥ם אֲבֹתַ֖י אַבְרָהָ֣ם וְיִצְחָ֑ק וְיִדְגּ֥וּ לָרֹ֖ב בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃Gn 48:16

¶When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.
Gn 48:17Gn 48:17וַיַּ֣רְא יוֹסֵ֗ף כִּי־יָשִׁ֨ית אָבִ֧יו יַד־יְמִינ֛וֹ עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ אֶפְרַ֖יִם וַיֵּ֣רַע בְּעֵינָ֑יו וַיִּתְמֹ֣ךְ יַד־אָבִ֗יו לְהָסִ֥יר אֹתָ֛הּ מֵעַ֥ל רֹאשׁ־אֶפְרַ֖יִם עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ מְנַשֶּֽׁה׃Gn 48:17
¶When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.

Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father; for this is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”
Gn 48:18Gn 48:18וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶל־אָבִ֖יו לֹא־כֵ֣ן אָבִ֑י כִּי־זֶ֣ה הַבְּכֹ֔ר שִׂ֥ים יְמִינְךָ֖ עַל־רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃Gn 48:18
Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father; for this is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”
19Gn 48:1919καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ἀλλὰ εἶπεν οἶδα τέκνον οἶδα καὶ οὗτος ἔσται εἰς λαόν καὶ οὗτος ὑψωθήσεται ἀλλὰ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ νεώτερος μείζων αὐτοῦ ἔσται καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἔσται εἰς πλῆθος ἐθνῶνGn 48:19
¶His father refused, and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a multitude of nations.”
Gn 48:19Gn 48:19וַיְמָאֵ֣ן אָבִ֗יו וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יָדַ֤עְתִּֽי בְנִי֙ יָדַ֔עְתִּי גַּם־ה֥וּא יִהְיֶה־לְּעָ֖ם וְגַם־ה֣וּא יִגְדָּ֑ל וְאוּלָ֗ם אָחִ֤יו הַקָּטֹן֙ יִגְדַּ֣ל מִמֶּ֔נּוּ וְזַרְע֖וֹ יִהְיֶ֥ה מְלֹֽא־הַגּוֹיִֽם׃Gn 48:19
¶His father refused, and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a multitude of nations.”
20Gn 48:2020καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ λέγων ἐν ὑμῖν εὐλογηθήσεται Ισραηλ λέγοντες ποιήσαι σε ὁ θεὸς ὡς Εφραιμ καὶ ὡς Μανασση καὶ ἔθηκεν τὸν Εφραιμ ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ ΜανασσηGn 48:20He blessed them that day, saying, “In you will Israel bless, saying, ‘God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh’” He set Ephraim before Manasseh.and he blessed them in that day saying "In you Israel will be blessed, the one saying God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh" and he placed Ephraim in front of Menasseh.

Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.

Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.
