Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness,

2Is 32:22καὶ ἔσται ὁ ἄνθρωπος κρύπτων τοὺς λόγους αὐτοῦ καὶ κρυβήσεται ὡς ἀφ’ ὕδατος φερομένου καὶ φανήσεται ἐν Σιων ὡς ποταμὸς φερόμενος ἔνδοξος ἐν γῇ διψώσῃIs 32:2
A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind,
and a covert from the storm,
as streams of water in a dry place,
as the shade of a large rock in a weary land.
Is 32:2Is 32:2וְהָיָה־אִ֥ישׁ כְּמַֽחֲבֵא־ר֖וּחַ וְסֵ֣תֶר זָ֑רֶם כְּפַלְגֵי־מַ֣יִם בְּצָי֔וֹן כְּצֵ֥ל סֶֽלַע־כָּבֵ֖ד בְּאֶ֥רֶץ עֲיֵפָֽה׃Is 32:2

and the ears of those who hear will listen.
Is 32:3Is 32:3וְלֹ֥א תִשְׁעֶ֖ינָה עֵינֵ֣י רֹאִ֑ים וְאָזְנֵ֥י שֹׁמְעִ֖ים תִּקְשַֽׁבְנָה׃Is 32:3
The eyes of those who see will not be dim,
and the ears of those who hear will listen.
4Is 32:44καὶ ἡ καρδία τῶν ἀσθενούντων προσέξει τοῦ ἀκούειν καὶ αἱ γλῶσσαι αἱ ψελλίζουσαι ταχὺ μαθήσονται λαλεῖν εἰρήνηνIs 32:4
The heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
Is 32:4Is 32:4וּלְבַ֥ב נִמְהָרִ֖ים יָבִ֣ין לָדָ֑עַת וּלְשׁ֣וֹן עִלְּגִ֔ים תְּמַהֵ֖ר לְדַבֵּ֥ר צָחֽוֹת׃Is 32:4
The heart of the rash will understand knowledge,
and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
5Is 32:55καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ εἴπωσιν τῷ μωρῷ ἄρχειν καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ εἴπωσιν οἱ ὑπηρέται σου σίγαIs 32:5
The fool will no longer be called noble,
nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

and to utter error against Yahweh,
To make empty the soul of the hungry,
and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

Is 32:6Is 32:6כִּ֤י נָבָל֙ נְבָלָ֣ה יְדַבֵּ֔ר וְלִבּ֖וֹ יַעֲשֶׂה־אָ֑וֶן לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת חֹ֗נֶף וּלְדַבֵּ֤ר אֶל־יְהוָה֙ תּוֹעָ֔ה לְהָרִיק֙ נֶ֣פֶשׁ רָעֵ֔ב וּמַשְׁקֶ֥ה צָמֵ֖א יַחְסִֽיר׃Is 32:6
For the fool will speak folly,
and his heart will work iniquity,

The ways of the scoundrel are evil.
He devises wicked devices to destroy the humble with lying words,
even when the needy speaks right.For the will of the wicked is lawless, he is determined to ruin the meek by unjust words and by scattering in judgment, the words of the poor.

The ways of the scoundrel are evil.

8Is 32:88οἱ δὲ εὐσεβεῖς συνετὰ ἐβουλεύσαντο καὶ αὕτη ἡ βουλὴ μενεῖIs 32:8

For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women;
for the vintage shall fail.
The harvest won’t come.
Is 32:10Is 32:10יָמִים֙ עַל־שָׁנָ֔ה תִּרְגַּ֖זְנָה בֹּֽטְח֑וֹת כִּ֚י כָּלָ֣ה בָצִ֔יר אֹ֖סֶף בְּלִ֥י יָבֽוֹא׃Is 32:10
For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women;
for the vintage shall fail.

11Is 32:1111ἔκστητε λυπήθητε αἱ πεποιθυῖαι ἐκδύσασθε γυμναὶ γένεσθε περιζώσασθε σάκκους τὰς ὀσφύαςIs 32:11

Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked,
and put sackcloth on your waist.

yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.

Thorns and briars will come up on my people’s land;
yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.
14Is 32:1414οἶκοι ἐγκαταλελειμμένοι πλοῦτον πόλεως καὶ οἴκους ἐπιθυμητοὺς ἀφήσουσιν καὶ ἔσονται αἱ κῶμαι σπήλαια ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος εὐφροσύνη ὄνων ἀγρίων βοσκήματα ποιμένωνIs 32:14
For the palace will be forsaken.
The populous city will be deserted.
The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever,
a delight for wild donkeys,
a pasture of flocks;
Is 32:14Is 32:14כִּֽי־אַרְמ֣וֹן נֻטָּ֔שׁ הֲמ֥וֹן עִ֖יר עֻזָּ֑ב עֹ֣פֶל וָבַ֜חַן הָיָ֨ה בְעַ֤ד מְעָרוֹת֙ עַד־עוֹלָ֔ם מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ פְּרָאִ֖ים מִרְעֵ֥ה עֲדָרִֽים׃Is 32:14
For the palace will be forsaken.

Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field is considered a forest.
Is 32:15Is 32:15עַד־יֵ֨עָרֶ֥ה עָלֵ֛ינוּ ר֖וּחַ מִמָּר֑וֹם וְהָיָ֤ה מִדְבָּר֙ לַכַּרְמֶ֔ל ‏{ וכרמל וְהַכַּרְמֶ֖ל }‏ לַיַּ֥עַר יֵחָשֵֽׁב׃

Is 32:15
Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high,
and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
and the fruitful field is considered a forest.
16Is 32:1616καὶ ἀναπαύσεται ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνη ἐν τῷ Καρμήλῳ κατοικήσειIs 32:16
Then justice will dwell in the wilderness;
and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field.

17Is 32:1717καὶ ἔσται τὰ ἔργα τῆς δικαιοσύνης εἰρήνη καὶ κρατήσει ἡ δικαιοσύνη ἀνάπαυσιν καὶ πεποιθότες ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνοςIs 32:17
The work of righteousness will be peace;
and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.

The work of righteousness will be peace;

in safe dwellings,
and in quiet resting places.

in safe dwellings,
and in quiet resting places.

Though hail flattens the forest,
